YCCC Scuttlebutt #119, October 1995
The July, 1995, meeting of the Yankee Clipper Contest Club was held on Saturday, July 29, 1995, at the ARRL New England Division Convention in Manchester, NH. The meeting was chaired by club Vice President and Activities Manager, Luigi, AA1AA.
To start things rolling, Tom, K1KI, passed out million-pointer and DXCC-in-a-weekend plaques to qualifying members, and Tom and Luigi passed out certificates. The treasurer's report showed a balance of $1304.84. The proposed dues and subscription increase passed. This was followed by introductions of the 94 members present and their families and other guests.
Gary, K2AJY, passed out flyers for the New England DX Convention and dinner, to be held on October 7th in Worcester, Massachusetts. Jack, W1WEF, had CT interfaces for sale. Dave, KY1H, is looking for antenna workers. The club office of local area manager for Western Massachusetts is still vacant; interested members should talk to Bill, N1AU, the area manager for Eastern Massachusetts, to get a feel for what is involved. Following this, the club welcomed several new members (see "New Crew").
In the second hour, Paul, K1XM, and Charlotte, KQ1F, presented a multi-media slide show on the 1994 CQ WW CW Dxpedition to J77J.
In the third hour, Dean, N6BV/1 lectured on antenna modeling and terrain analysis. He covered the range of elevation angles needed, antenna performance analysis, and the effect of local terrain, using the IONCAP program. As examples, Dean compared stations of several of our members.
